Welcome back to Term 3, 2009 – 2010 at SIS @ Van Phuc. At the end of Term 2, our students completed the End of Semester Tests. Tests have been completed in all subject areas – English, Maths, Science, SOSE, PE, Music, ICT, Art, and students are awarded grades in these subject areas.

Welcome back! After our Christmas break, all primary classes ‘hit the ground running’ as they returned to school and went straight into their testing schedule. This year, all primary students in grades two and up have sat semester 1 tests (SA1) based upon the Singaporean curriculum. These tests have been developed by our school in Ho Chi Minh City and they have been set across all S.I.S. primary schools in Vietnam.

I would like to wish all students and parents a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I hope all students have a very relaxing and enjoyable break of Christmas. When we return from the holidays our students will be starting to undergo their exams for the completion of semester 1 results for the International program. I wish all students the very best for their end of semester exams and know that you will all try your best.

It seems that we have just returned from our last holiday, yet we are rapidly approaching another holiday, this time our Christmas break.

The first weeks of Term 1 have been busy but good.  New teachers and students have quickly adjusted to life at SIS and all classrooms are operating well.  Teachers and students are focused on our highest priority – quality teaching and learning.

Singapore International School has continued to grow this term with new enrolments bringing our student numbers to 451.  Our school is building a reputation for its strong curriculum.  However, we need to continue to build good learning and study habits among all students.  As a school staff, we also continually focus on quality school practices in our weekly meetings.

We have had a busy and exciting Term One with the students engaged in many new and challenging activities. Our classrooms have been buzzing with wonderful learning experiences, the results demonstrated in the interesting student work and photo display inside and outside classrooms. It’s hard to believe that we are at the end of the school year. It seems like just yesterday when you were dropping them off for the first time!

Dear Parents and Children,

For Children’s day on the 1st June, all the children were given a ‘Knderworld Hat’ to wear now that the weather has been warming up and the Manor children went to the ‘circus’ in the Tran Nhau Tong district. The children thoroughly enjoyed their day there and when they came back to school they were exhausted.

Each year I am finding the days and weeks seem to goes faster than the year before and all of a sudden it’s time again to write the final newsletter for the year.

I hope you all had relaxed Term break holidays though a bit short ones. Children have once again settled back very well in their classes. They seem very energetic and enthusiastic.

Welcome to the fourth term; we hope you all had a restful break. This is a busy term as the teachers will be preparing for the end of year school reports, as well as getting them organized for the end of year concert.

Children’s Medication at School.

I would like to remind parents that if at times your child requires medication while at school, you MUST provide to the class teacher International and Local, a written and signed letter explaining what the medication is for and the dosage amount, and when it is to be administered. Verbal permission is NOT ADEQUATE.

If this is not provided the teacher will NOT administer any medication to your child.

Football will soon make a return to UniWorld @ Ciputra! Our students have been raring to play football for a long time and as of this week they will finally get their chance to show their skills on the new pitch.
