2. Scholarship Criteria 

2.1 Vietnamese students who are studying in a local / private school within Quang Ninh province in SY2017-2018; will enter into Year 6 and Year 7 in School Year 2018 – 2019;

2.2 Children of employees of KinderWorld Group and its subsidiaries are not eligible;

2.3 Academic requirements for students entering into Year 6:

• All periodical tests must be from 9/10 for School Year 2016-2017 and semester 1 of School Year 2017-2018

Academic requirements for students entering into Year 7:

• Academic Record: Excellent (Học lực Giỏi) for School Year 2016-2017 and semester 1 of School Year 2017-2018
• Behaviour Record: Good (Hạnh kiểm Tốt) for School Year 2016-2017

3. Scholarship process 

3.1 Must meet all criteria and submit required documents to School Office before due date.

–    Required documents:

• Scholarship Application Form
• Birth certificate (certified copy)
• Parents ID (certified copy)

Academic transcripts for School Year 2016-2017 and semester 1 of School Year 2017-2018 (certified copy)

–    Additional documents (certified copy):

• Certificate of Foreign Language, talent achievements, scholarships, etc

–    Candidates who meet the criteria and have additional documents will be selected for Round 1.

3.2  Round 1 – English Test

–    Written English Test for 120 minutes (Listening, Reading, Writing and Grammar)

–    Top 10 students of each level will be selected for Round 2

3.3  Round 2 – Interviews

–    Face-to-Face Interview in English with members of School Academic Board (Principal)

–    A scorecard will be used to identify top 5 students of each level based on Round 1 and Round 2 results

4. Scholarship Terms and Conditions 

4.1  Scholarship for Integrated Programme in SIS @ Halong only and is not applicable in other Singapore International Schools in other locations.

4.2  Only names of successful candidates will be announced. Test results will not be released.  Award of scholarships is at the discretion of the Company and results are final and will not open for further consideration.

4.3   Scholarships are non-transferrable and cannot be converted into cash.

4.4   Scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with other Preferential Rates applied in SIS @ Ha Long.

4.5   Registration Fee and Deposit are not covered under the Scholarship programme.

4.6   All Other Fees, such as Uniforms, Textbooks, Insurance, Meals and any other Miscellaneous Expenses that may have to be incurred during the school year and which are not outlined in the Fees Structure, for example, outdoor activities, miscellaneous equipment, etc are not covered under the Scholarship Programme.

4.7  All School Fees (if applicable) and Other Fees for coming school years must be paid on due date. Scholarship will be withdrawn without any due notice in the event that School Fees (if applicable) and Other Fees are paid later than stipulated due date.

4.8  Students are expected to always be on exemplary behavior, be attired in the correct school attire and to follow the Rules, Regulations and Conduct of the School. Students are also expected to contribute to school activities and events. Failing which, the Scholarship will be withdrawn.

4.9  The Scholarship may be withdrawn at any time if, in the opinion of the School, the Scholarship student’s behaviour has been found to be undesirable and is detrimental to the well-being of the school and other students.

4.10  Scholarships will be reviewed at the end of each School Year, subject to the following conditions:

• Scholarship students must maintain excellent academic results in both the Vietnamese and English Programme for each school year:

• A semester’s written notice will be given to improve grade if the Scholarship student fails to maintain the minimum grade as required. Failing which, the Scholarship will be withdrawn.
• Scholarship students should proactively join in social activities and/or competitions within the school system/ District/ City/ Nation.

4.11  Scholarship students must study continuously in Singapore International school @ Halong from the effective date of the scholarship grant. The Scholarship will be withdrawn immediately should the scholarship student withdraws or defers his/her study at SIS @ Halong.

4.12 The School reserves the right to vary or reverse any decision regarding admission or registration made on the basis of incorrect information submitted by parents.

 Cambridge Top in Vietnam Awards

 SIS is proud to announce that three of our students, Nguyen Hoang Minh Anh, Bach Quoc Trung and Dang My Linh of SIS @ Cau Giay were conferred Top in Vietnam awards in the June 2014 Cambridge International Examinations. Every year, Cambridge International Examinations honour students for their outstanding academic achievements in the IGCSE, AS Level and A Level examinations. The award is presented to students who have gained the highest standard mark in Vietnam for a single subject.

Nguyen Hoang Minh Anh of SIS @ Cau Giay was the proud recipient of 6 A* in the Cambridge IGCSE. She obtained two Top in Vietnam awards for English – First Language and Global Perspectives. Reflecting on her SIS journey, Minh Anh said, “I have attended SIS for nine years, and the journey has been remarkable. I’m extremely grateful for the memories I’ve had here. SIS certainly played a role in preparing me for pursuing an education in Canada.” Minh Anh is currently pursuing further studies in Canada, where she is hoping for a degree in Biochemistry at one of the universities there.

Bach Quoc Trung was the top scorer in Vietnam for AS Level Mathematics. Attributing his success to his Mathematics teacher, Mr. Ratzon, Quoc Trung remarked: “Mr Ratzon is a great teacher. He loves his subject and that really helps in teaching us. Studying at SIS certainly helped because teachers here know the programme so they can help students if any of them have any problems.”

Dang My Linh was awarded the Top in Vietnam award for her A* in Cambridge A Level Sociology. Currently in London School of Economics pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, we caught up with My Linh over email to inquire what played a key role in contributing to her success. She replied, “I really appreciate the support from my A Level teachers for the past two years. I couldn’t thank the teachers enough; they were so encouraging and inspiring. As classes in SIS are small in terms of size, I could talk to them anytime I had a problem.”

GAC Awards

The GAC (Global Assessment Certificate) is a University Foundation Program that prepares students for admission into more than 100 Pathway universities. In 2014, SIS achieved 100% completion rate of the Global Assessment Certificate (GAC), with the Graduating Class of 2014 receiving acceptance into universities around the world.

Nguyen Tran Minh Long from SIS @ Saigon South was awarded the GAC Dux Award for receiving a grade point average (GPA) of 3.6. He was awarded a scholarship to study Finance at Oregon State University in the United States.

Do Hoang Giang from SIS @ Cau Giay who also scored a GPA of 3.6, received a scholarship to study at British University Vietnam. When asked why he chose to study the GAC, Giang replied: “I think it provides a very concrete foundation. Although it lasts for only one year, it is packed with a lot of skills and knowledge to absorb. The main difference in the environment between SIS and other schools is the level of interpersonal interaction and skill development. Aside from simply overloading students with theories, students at SIS get opportunities for developing life skills through group tasks and more interactive activities.”

iPSLE Awards

The Singapore International Primary School Examination (iPSLE) is the international version of Singapore’s Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) and provides recognised certification of the knowledge and achievement that students have attained in English Language, Mathematics and Science.

Two SIS students, Tran Nguyen Nam Anh and Tran Quynh Anh, were awarded the Outstanding Subject Performance by the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) for their academic achievements in Mathematics.

The festival took up where it left off offering families a wide range of games and activities, as well as merchandise, food outlets and a lucky draw. The partners, service providers and KinderWorld staff provided a fun and relaxing environment where the parents and students of Singapore International School (SIS) and KinderWorld International Kindergarten (KIK) could enjoy themselves.

During the event, parents also had opportunity to visit the site of SIS Super School in Gamuda Gardens which is currently under construction and scheduled to open for the 2014-2015 academic year. Catering at the event was provided by the Bistro Restaurant under Pegasus International Training Center – KinderWorld Education Group.

The event affirmed another year of the company’s successful operation and highlighted KinderWorld’s commitment to providing a high quality service in education for local and foreign customers in Vietnam.
